12-Month Training Journey
The Getaway is a brand-new training journey for church leaders and teams to explore and develop intergenerational worship.
Starting with two days away together, the 12-month journey includes mentorship support and an online training session with your learning cohort — supporting you as you put into practise what you are learning.
The Getaway is brought to you by Nick & Becky Drake (Worship for Everyone) and Rachel Turner (Parenting for Faith).

01 The Getaway
Learning Gathering
Two days (one night) away with other church leaders and their teams for teaching, worship, guided planning and shared learning. Step back from everyday ministry to intentionally focus on this area of key ministry for your church.
You’ll leave with greater clarity, fresh encouragement, and concrete steps to take forward in your church.
02 Assigned Mentor
Personal Support
A conversation with you and your team to help you reflect on what you’ve learned, the specifics of your context, and the progress or challenges you are facing.
03 Online Development Day
Team Reflection
A guided online session for the entire cohort to come back together in the morning with optional further afternoon material to help your team. A chance for churches to feedback to each other, assess the journey so far, and clarify next steps.

Frequently Asked Questions
What happens at the Getaway retreat?
The first two cohorts of the Getaway will be hosted at hotels in Nottinghamshire and Oxfordshire and will include use of leisure facilities and cooked meals. The schedule will be very intentional and include:
Teaching and practical input
Engage with ideas and approaches that help churches grow faith across generations.
Shared learning with other leaders
Hear stories, challenges, and insights from others navigating similar ministry contexts.
Guided reflection and planning
Dedicated time to think about your own church and develop practical next steps.
Prayer and worship
Space to listen to God together and seek wisdom for the future.
Conversation and encouragement
Relaxed time over meals and coffee to build relationships with other leaders on the same journey.
Who is this for?
It is for churches who want to intentionally grow and develop the intergenerational ministry in their church.
Questions you may have include:
- How do we move beyond children’s work and adult services happening separately?
- We regularly meet all together – but I’m not sure it’s working to it’s potential. How do I shift to making sure we are really discipling and growing together, not just meeting together?
- How do we go beyond services and build an intergenerational culture at our church?
- How do we build a team of preachers and leaders who know how to lead and teach in intergenerational events well?
- We have a primarily older congregation – how do we invest in intergenerational church without having a lot of children or young people?
- How do we deal with resistance in our culture change from particular parents, age groups, or leaders and help our whole congregation be excited about participating in intergenerational church?
The Getaway Learning Community is designed to give you space, support, and shared wisdom to explore these questions with other leaders and begin taking meaningful steps forward.
Who should come from our church?
Individual church leaders are very welcome, particularly those leading small churches, however, we strongly encourage churches to send a small team (2–4 people) where possible. Learning together makes it far easier to reflect, pray and implement change back home.
For example:
- A vicar or church leader
- A children’s, youth or families leader
- A worship leader
- A volunteer or ministry team member
If you have a large team (4+) please get in touch: events@worshipforeveryone.com
What happens at the end of the year?
Sometimes significant change takes years — and we hope to be with you every step. As you go on the journey, you will need different thinking, more ideas, and a community to help refine your practice. We hope in the future to add new resources and opportunities responding to what you and your church need to take the next steps on the journey of intergenerational worship and church community.
Do I need to have done any other learning or Worship For Everyone training before coming to this?
If you have not attended Worship For Everyone training or conference before, we recommend you read Nick & Becky’s book: Worship For Everyone: unlocking the transforming power of all-age worship. This ensures some of the basics are covered before the Getaway.
